Kindle Fire Review Is The HD 8.9 Model For You

By Katrina Harden

Although I own a laptop; and it does what I want it to. I was pondering the idea of getting a tablet. I read many reviews on Kindle products like this one and settled on the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" 4G model. Plus, I did not want to pay a lot of money for an iPad.

I wanted something smaller and lightweight to read books with, browse the Web, listen to some tunes, and watch some TV episodes I missed.

Upon reading various reviews about tablets and e-readers, I came across the Kindle Fire. I am well-pleased with it and I decided to share my experience.

The picture quality is incredible. The clarity and crispness of the screen met and exceeded my expectations. It's not the same quality that you get from a Blu-ray or anything like that but I am impressed on how well my TV shows, videos, and Netflix played back.

I can read e-books for hours. The text and images come out really great on the display screen. I can view my favorite websites, download apps, and play games with absolute clarity.

Based on the reviews I have read about this model regarding the sound quality, I did not expect much. But when I listened to my audio books and music with it, this too exceeded my expectations. For me, I think the sound is incredible.

These speakers put out some incredible sound. There are two speakers on both sides of the display screen that put out Bose quality sound.

I decided to upgrade because I enjoy listening to music and watching my favorite shows and movies from Netflix while I am out and about. I enjoy reading but this was not my primary reason for getting this model.

But if you have the joy of reading, this model won't let you down. Amazon has taken the guess work out of finding, reading, purchasing, and listening to audio books. They have made it real easy for us.

Amazon has a seemingly endless list of books in their Prime lending library that you can choose from. They have classics like the Iliad, Jungle book, Little Women and many more. And get this, you don't have to pay for them; they are FREE.

Many of these books come with audio for free but for the ones that don't; there is a text-to-speech feature that works pretty good if you don't want to pay for audio books. As I said earlier, I did not get this model for the e-reader but since it is so fun and easy to read with it, I find myself yearning to read more.

Out of a score of ten, I give the web browsing experience an eight because it lacks Flash support. This limits your browsing a bit. I did a bit of research and I found out how you can work around this.

So, what you do is go and download the app ES File Explorer. Then you want to also download a browser called Dolphin. This browser Dolphin has the capability to give you Flash support.

Don't worry this is very easy to do if you just take your time. Silk, which is what it comes with out of the box, is doable and works well with Net surfing; but on occasion Flash is needed.

Flash support is not available with Kindle because Adobe does not support tablets any more. So, this is no fault on Amazon. But, if you are in an excellent network, browsing is very fast on the Web right when you get your Kindle at your front door.

The App selection is pretty good. I have no complaints. I wish Dropbox, SiriusXM, and YouTube were available but like I said I am pretty much satisfied with what it comes with.

The 8.9" is lighter than the 7". I can watch movies or read for long periods of time holding it in one hand. I love the thin sleek design of this tablet.

Like I said nothing is perfect but this is just a minor gripe. On this model, the power and volume buttons can be hard to find at times and you have to purchase a charger separately.

If you don't want to spend the extra $20.00 for the charger, a charger from your smartphone will do. The Kindle Fire charger will charge your Kindle in an hour while a regular USB cable will take about an hour and a half to fully charge.

This Kindle Fire review has been fun to write but I have to bring it to a close. But before I do, allow me to mention the 4G connection capability. At times it works fine depending on where I am at and at other times I can't get a signal to save my life.

At other times when I visit family in Dallas, my display reads full strength but I can't get anything, no Internet, no e-mail, no nothing. Overall, I am well satisfied with my new Kindle. It does what I want and need it to do for the most part.
