Different Learning Styles
It should be noted at the beginning that no person learns exclusively by only one of these styles, but that there may be a learning style which you employ most often that typically works best. All of us have used each of these styles at one point or another Visual learners are best able to retain necessary information by associating the fact with a visual element like pictures, mental images, and even spatial understanding. Aural learners would much rather learn by integrating sound or music into the educational process. Whether they speak the facts in a rhythmical manner or set them to made-up or even popular melodies, these learners prefer to store the information by means of music and sound.
Third- Imagery styled copy paints a picture for readers by using metaphors and similes in order to put the reader in a new setting. It is important in this style of copy to use known people, places and things in order to reach the individual readers. Fourth- The Touchstone style is much like the imagery style because you use a common known place or person except this time you use it as a base for your writing. It becomes the main connector and is referred to throughout the writing. Many times the "touchstone" is an actual historic event that took place.
Fifth-"you" copy is seen a lot on the internet today. It is where the word "you" is used often in order to build a connection with the reader. This kind of copy can become repetitive sometimes so mixing styles is always an option. While these are some of the styles you may encounter while writing copy it is important to remember that it is your voice that should sell as a writer. So how do you sell your voice?
It is important to sound intelligent. This requires a sound understanding of grammar as well as a mastery of words. Does that mean you need to be a regular Edgar Allen Poe? Not exactly, but it does mean that you need to have words that paint a picture and portray things as they need to be portrayed. Another thing that distinguishes great copywriters is their ability to build connections and run on several trains of thought. This allows them to write on a wider variety of subjects without being bored.
Overall the job market for copywriters is growing and is looking promising. Writers can get into this career path in a number of different ways. While it may not seem technical getting an education in copywriting will help take you to the next level of copywriting and get you in with larger companies.
