How will gold affect the Diablo 3 economy

By James Vega

Among the many things that distinguish Diablo 3 from Diablo 2 is the close relationship between the two economies that are an integral part of the game. As any diehard fan would know that the game features two types of economies; one that is governed by gold and the other that is based on different items that the players might need during the course of the game. The gold-based economy is primarily for getting services and items from the NPCs.

The economy in gold is unbalance at the moment due to gold farmers but this is hopefully being fixed and has to be done to ensure that gold is not abused, as it was the case in the 2nd one. Balancing the economy in this installment will be achieved by making it scarce and ensuring that it is used for the creation of essential items. The scarcity of gold is also achieved through its use in upgrading.

With the launch of Diablo 3 gold, Blizzard created a scenario in which both the economies are connected with each other. The game successfully manages to do that by making gold less easily available. In addition to that, it now makes it compulsory for players to have a good amount of Diablo 3 gold before they can start creating essential items or opt for upgrades. With Diablo 3 gold, multi-player games have become even more exciting since they can get gold by selling off items or killing monsters. In this way, Diablo 3 gold remains a valuable commodity.

The economy is designed to be resilient and flexible, developers having learnt their lesson in the last installment. The team that has been putting together this game is concerned with the issue of gold being a strong game resource. Monsters are not going to be dropping big piles of gold. Most items sell for less than in other installments. Also players can breakdown unwanted items with the salvage cube.

Runes have been done away with in this installment of the game. On the other hand, the inventory is also much larger as it has undergone several permutations. You are also going to find out that potions have been greatly lessened. They can only be used in emergencies in this version of the game. Players also must learn to survive with health globes and hit leeches. All players see every item that is dropped. This is not just a revision. It is an overhaul and it has brought in a completely new game.

Diablo 3 features two types of auction houses and players can keep switching between them whenever they like. These include the gold auction house and the real-money auction house. Each of the regions featured in the game have their own gold and real-money auction houses. While real-money auction requires players to transact with actual money, the gold auction house lets them utilize their accumulated gold wealth. If a player wishes to sell an item or equipment through the gold auction house, there is a transaction fee of 15 percent of the final selling price, which applies only if the transaction works out successfully.

Each level adds a capacity of 10,000 gold slugs for a character to carry. In that way, a character in the first level can possess up to 10,000 gold pieces while in the second level it can carry 20,000 units. Unlike the original Diablo game, its successors do not require the characters to carry the gold along with other items in their backpacks.

If a character gets killed in multi-player settings, it ends up losing a certain portion of its total gold accumulated. On the other hand, if a character loses its life in a single player game, it will not affect its gold collection. In fact, if the character has 500 pieces of gold per level as stash, it will not be liable to pay any penalty for dying.
